Success Stories: General Motors Die Cast
Revolutionizing the Vehicle Replica Industry to Protect General Motors Trademarks
Upon inception of the General Motors licensing Program in 1991, EMI recognized that there was a significant lack of control over the products that were being developed in the vehicle replica/die‐cast industry. Over time, EMI revolutionized the entire industry by converting General Motors replica manufacturers into a royalty‐bearing licensing model.
Manufacturers were provided access to blueprints, CAD data, and advanced vehicle specs before the actual vehicle was introduced to the market. As a result, newly established licensees were able to create higher quality vehicle replicas, expedite the process of getting their products to the market and strengthen their overall sales.
Today, licensing in the die‐cast industry is standard.
